Rates, Retainer & Terms

The schedule below is current as of the 2026 curriculum vitae and applies to plaintiff and defense engagements alike. An initial retainer is required before any work begins.

Expert Witness Rate	$500 / hour	Case review, phone conferences, reading depositions, research, on-site review, answering questions, preparation for deposition and trial.
Report Writing	$500 / hour	Preparation of a written expert report, when requested.
Half-Day Deposition Testimony (4 hrs)	$2,500	Minimum charge.
Full-Day Deposition Testimony (8 hrs)	$5,000	Maximum charge.
Half-Day Trial Testimony (4 hrs)	$2,500	Minimum charge.
Full-Day Trial Testimony (8 hrs)	$5,000	Maximum charge.
Site Visit	$3,000	Per venue inspection, exclusive of travel.
Travel Time	$185 / hour	Portal to portal.
Per Diem	$150 / day	Plus travel and lodging at actual cost.

Terms

Retainer & Billing

Initial retainer. A $5,000.00 nonrefundable retainer is required at the time of engagement and is billed against at $500.00 per hour — including phone conferences, reading depositions, research, on-site review, answering questions, review for deposition and trial, and preparation of a report if one is requested.
Replenishment. Once the retainer depletes to $1,000.00, an additional $5,000.00 retainer is required before further work proceeds.
Deposition and trial payment. If payment under the deposition and trial fee schedule is not received prior to the deposition, the deposition is considered canceled.
Cancellation. Cancellation of a scheduled deposition or trial within one week results in a four-hour charge. Cancellation within 48 hours results in an eight-hour charge.
Travel. Pre-payment at actual cost is required for travel, lodging, the $150.00 daily per diem and subsistence. Where expenses are reimbursed rather than pre-paid, reimbursement is at actual cost plus 30%.

Early retention produces stronger reports. If a disclosure deadline is close, call directly — rush availability is handled case by case. A conflicts check is run on every inquiry before any case material is reviewed, and all inquiries are confidential.
